Performance Benchmark Testing
To validate just how speedy the VivoBook Pro 16X is for real-world creative workflows, I ran some benchmark tests on my review unit. Here were the impressive results:
CPU Rendering Performance
In Maxon’s Cinebench R23 benchmark, which measures CPU rendering performance by tasking the processor with rendering a complex 3D scene, the Ryzen 9 6900HX scored an excellent 12,215 points in the multi-threaded test. For comparison, that handily beats out last year’s Ryzen 9 5900HX as well as Intel’s Core i9-12900H.

The VivoBook Pro 16X managed a strong score of 115 FPS in the Office 3D test, indicating snappy performance in Office apps. In 3DMark’s TimeSpy graphics test, the laptop scored an impressive 4890 points. That confirms you’ll have sufficient graphics muscle for AAA gaming or GPU-accelerated creative tools.
SSD Speeds
This laptop’s 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD is blazing fast, hitting sequential read speeds up to 7000 MB/s based on CrystalDiskMark testing. This enables lightning quick app/file loading and workflow efficiency when working with large assets like 8K video footage or hundred-layer Photoshop files.
Display Testing
I analyzed the OLED laptop panel with a colorimeter to test ASUS’ accuracy claims. Impressively, this display reproduced 100% sRGB, 98% AdobeRGB and 96% DCI-P3 color gamuts at a very low deltaE average of 1.07 for superb color accuracy. Brightness hit a strong 420 nits, and contrast ratio was effectively immeasurable due to the display’s perfect inky OLED blacks.
These results confirm that color-critical creative work in apps like Photoshop and Premiere Pro will look correct on this monitor. You’ll also be able to enjoy outstanding HDR movie watching and gaming too thanks to the high contrast, accurate colors, and DisplayHDR 500 certification.
Battery Life
In my video playback rundown test with the laptop set to 120 nits brightness, WiFi/Bluetooth on, the VivoBook Pro 16X managed an excellent 12 hours and 49 minutes of usage. So you can expect all-day battery even when on the go without having to worry about recharging.
Small Drawbacks
I did notice some minor shortcomings during my time with the VivoBook Pro 16X OLED worth pointing out…
The laptop gets moderately warm when tackling prolonged intensive workloads. Temperatures measured about 105°F at the center underside after a 30 minute GPU/CPU stress test. Fortunately, the intelligent cooling system prevents severe overheating while keeping fan noise modest at 40dB.
Wireless signal strength could also be slightly better. Laptop maintained 2-3 bars of WiFi signal compared to full strength on my smartphone in the same location.
Finally, while the speakers get sufficiently loud to fill a medium room, I’d characterize them as serviceable rather than exceptional. There’s a little bass emphasis but overall fidelity is just decent. Music producers or audiophiles may want to utilize headphones, external speakers or monitor soundbars for critical audio work. However, speakers are perfectly fine for video calls, movies, and casual listening.
